Kent SeaTech, originally named Aquatic Systems Inc. (ASI), was founded by Jim Carlberg and Jack Van Olst. Recognized worldwide as aquaculture experts, the pair directed aquaculture research projects at Scripps Institution of Oceanography involving the culture of lobsters, finfish, abalone, scallops and other high-valued species. They have written more than 75 scientific papers and technical reports on aquaculture, and provided consulting services for aquaculture projects in Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and North America. In 1984, after nearly ten years of research and hybrid breeding, they developed the first successful production facility for striped bass. In 1992, Richard and Vincent Kent of Kentco Capital Corporation acquired a majority interest in ASI and renamed the company Kent SeaTech. Today, Kent SeaTech's striped bass are in demand in markets throughout the world under the brand California Farmed Striped Bass®. |
