Jack
Van Olst,
Director of Research |
Mr. Van Olst began
his fisheries and aquaculture research in 1962 and was a founding
partner of Aquatic Systems beginning in 1972. With Jim Carlberg, he has
conducted research on more than 100 aquatic species and written a
variety of scientific papers and reports. Mr. Van Olst serves as
Director of Research for Kent SeaTech and is involved in several of the
company's research efforts. |
Dr.
Mark Westerman,
Director of Molecular Biology |
Mr. Westerman joined
Kent SeaTech in 2000 and is Director of the Molecular Biology Program at
the company's research facilities in San Diego. Dr. Westerman is active
in several research projects, including studies to enhance the
development of striped bass broodstock and selective breeding
techniques. |
Dr.
Vaughn E. Ostland,
Director of Aquatic Pathology |
Before joining the
company, Dr. Ostland was part of the research faculty and fish
diagnostics group in the Department of Pathobiology at the University of
Guelph in Canada. Dr. Ostland oversees our diagnostic microbiology and
histopathology studies of intensively reared hybrid striped bass,
tilapia and carp-goldfish hybrids. |
Stephen
J. Mitchell,
Director of Hatchery Biology |
Mr. Mitchell has been with
Kent Sea Tech for over 15years manages several research programs at KST
and assists in the management, upgrades and training at the KST
production facilities. He hasover 25 years experience conducting
numerous government and university research projects on the physiology
of fish under intensive culture and has directed undergraduate
laboratory courses on fish physiology. He completedhis Master of Science
degree in Comparative Animal Physiology at UC Davis, focusing on the
cardiovascular, respiratory, and metabolic physiology offish |
Rod
Chamberlain,
Facility Manager |
Mr. Chamberlain is
Facility Manager for Kent Sea Tech's intensive striped bass production
facility in the Coachella Valley. He has over 20 years of research and
production experience in finfish and shellfish cultureand also is highly
skilled in systems design and aquaculture engineering. |
